Basically, we could say the Eufy floodlight Cam 2 Pro is an improvement of the “Eufy Floodlight Cam 2”. But the Pro version came out two months after the Floodlight Cam 2, which means the production of both systems took place about the same time.

When you go through the Eufy security camera catalog, it’s also easy to place the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro in its product line. Unlike the others, it has a domed design that’s usually a little more appealing than the standard design. Then the floodlights are three light panels that you can adjust individually to illuminate three different positions at the same time.

In the chart, you can see the outdoor security camera from Eufyis brighter than the most recent Ring floodlight cam. It outputs up to 3000 lumens of brightness, which you can easily adjust the intensity using the mobile app.

More on that, continue reading our detailed Eufy Floodlight Cam Pro 2 review below.

Eufy Floodlight Cam Pro 2 Review: Features & Performance of the Outdoor Security Camera

  • How’s the Pricing

Eufy is a nice brand when looking for a budget-friendly home security camera. Yes, the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro is relatively pricey, as you have to put down almost $300 on regular days. You could save $100+ when the company has limited-time deals. But even then, is the amount worth it?

  • How’s the Build & Durability

It’s becoming less and less common to find security cameras with metal housing. Like our Eufy Cam here features a plastic housing and mounting bracket. The material, of course, is far from the IK10 vandal-proof brands that are all metallic. But it feels solid and durable, plus has IP65 weatherproof protection. You can mount in an open environment without having to worry about damage by rain, snow, or dust.

  • How’s the Video Quality?

In the recent Eufy vs Wyze review, we saw the brand delivers much better image quality with its line of 2K systems. The Floodlight Cam 2 Pro is a perfect example here, with a 3MP image sensor, which you can see the pictures are sharper than the standard resolution. You can zoom the distant objects a bit without the problem of excessive pixelation.

Eufy has also innovated the security camera with a 24fps frame rate, an improvement from the 15fps the earlier systems have been using. You’ll notice the video for the objects in motion is relatively smoother and not laggy/ choppy.

As for the coverage, the security camera has a 130-degree field of view. And the best part, the camera head can also pan and tilt to give you a complete 360° coverage of the area.

  • How’s the Night Vision?

The night vision of the Eufy floodlight cam is pretty great, thanks to its superior sensor and integrated floodlights. They (floodlights) emit up to 3000 lumens of white light, which shines the darkness clear as day. You can clearly tell a face and differentiate a coyote from a dog at night.

What this also means is that the Eufy floodlight Cam will work well as an outdoor security light. You necessarily don’t need to have one in the mounting position.

The floodlight panels are adjustable into different positions to make sure there are no blind spots in the place. Then you can also adjust the lighting brightness and temperature level to suit your particular needs.

  • How’s the Audio Quality?

The Eufy Floodlight Cam is an excellent option if looking for a security camera system with audio. It has a built-in microphone and speaker, whereby you not only get video footage you can listen. The system also has two-way talk to speak with your guests or ward off intruders.

Well, don’t expect the audio from the speakers of the camera to be as your Hi-Fi stereo in the living room. But it’s clear enough to hear every word either party is saying without the issue of echo.

  • How’s the Active Deterrence

The Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro supports multiple active deterrence features. One of them is two-way talk, whereby you can shout or warn the intruder with your voice in real-time.

The second deterrence feature is the siren built into the security camera. It’s loud enough to scare the pants off the burglar- but, of course, not loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear.

Also, the floodlights integrated into the Eufy camera are motion-activated. They light up when the motion sensor detects movements in the area, which can also deter opportunistic trespassers.

  • How’s the Smart AI Detection?

The Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro fits the bill when looking for an intelligent motion security camera to reduce false alerts. You can activate human-only detection and let it ignore all alerts from animals, leaves, twigs, and other non-humanoid objects.

The wireless camera also supports motion auto-tracking, whereby it locks onto the objects and follows them until exiting the frame. Then there’s also customizable motion detection, in which case you can set up to two zones you’d want the system to focus on if mounted in high-traffic areas.

  • How’s the Storage Option?

Another reason Eufy is becoming a favorite of many people is its extensive collection of security cameras with no subscription required. Our floodlight cam has 8GB of built-internal memory (EMMC), which is pretty enough for a whole month.

If that’s not enough, the company has a cloud subscription starting at $3/ month for a single device or $10 for ten cameras. But the issue is that it still offers only motion-activated recording (No 24/7 continuous mode).

  • How’s the Smart Home Integration?

About all Eufy security cameras we’ve gone through have smart-home integration, and the floodlight cam 2 pro is no different. It’s natively compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices. Thus, you can enjoy simple hands-free control in tandem with other smart devices.

  • How’s the Installation?

In truth, installing the Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro isn’t as quick as the battery-powered EufyCam 2C security camera. It takes quite a significant amount of power to sustain its operation, which is why you must hardwire to the main power supply.

If you have an existing security light in the mounting location, you’ll just need to hook the camera there. And if not, contact your electrician and have him build a safe power supply and junction box to attach.

But before you have hardwired your Eufy Floodlight Cam, set it up indoors closer to the WiFi router to make sure it works fine. It does come with an adapter you can plug into the power socket and complete the setup on the App.

Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro Review: The Drawbacks of the Outdoor Security camera

As mentioned earlier, the Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro has its drawbacks you should know before buying. They include:

  1. It doesn’t support (24/7) continuous video recording
  2. It’s not natively compatible with the Apple Homekit system
  3. It has a (tough) plastic housing and wall bracket- make sure you don’t drop on concrete
  4. It recently has had some security concerns: unauthorized uploading of data to the cloud and lack of encryption for (VLC) web portal streams. But the company has come forward and promised to solve the two issues.

Common Related Questions:

Can Eufy cameras be trusted?

In truth, this is a tricky and subjective question. Eufy cameras can be trusted again if the company could fix the few flaws they had a couple of months ago. What happened is that the cameras could upload user data into the cloud storage without their user consent and determined hackers with a camera IP address could stream on VLC with a URL. But the company has claimed they’re addressing the issue, starting with end-to-end encryption via AES and RSA algorithms.

Is the floodlight Cam Wired Pro worth it?

In my opinion, $300 is still too much. But the floodlight Cam wired pro is still worth it. You get crystal clear video with full-color night vision, two-way talk, and free storage. The camera also supports advanced motion detection, including human-only mode and object lock-and-auto-follow.

Is Eufy as good as Arlo?

Eufy is as good as Arlo in picture quality. It’s better at some point as you can get free local storage, smart AI detection, plus integration with Alexa and Google Home. Then the Floodlight camera showers your compound with up to 3000 lumens of brightness.

Will the Eufy floodlight work without Wi-Fi?

Similar to many standalone wireless cameras, the Eufy floodlight camera will not work without WiFi. It requires a consistent internet connection to sync with the Eufy servers for remote viewing and recording.

Can you replace the Eufy floodlight camera’s lights?

Sadly, NO, you can not replace the Eufy floodlight camera’s lights. However, they will give you up to 100,000 hours of service before they develop issues.

You Must Hardwire the Cam to Make the Most of it

If you need a security camera system to watch your property in clarity 24/7, the Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro fits the bill. The integrated spotlights are super-bright to continue recording in full color in the darkness.
However, do remember high light output will also require a high input. You must hardwire your security camera to the main power supply to get it running.
